Low Calorie

Foods you MUST eat to lose weight | HEALTHY GROCERY SHOP ESSENTIALS

In this video, I take “those of you” shopping with me to Coles (a major supermarket in Australia, where I am currently living on a Working Holiday Visa). I usually buy these groceries on a weekly basis while I am in a fat lose phase.

The key factor that determines weight loss is whether or not you are in a calorie deficit. The foods that I buy in this video help me stay in a calorie deficit because they are high protein, low calorie and high volume.

Protein is the most satiating macronutrient. It takes more energy to digest compared to carbs or fats. If you eat a protein-rich diet, you will be providing your muscles with the building blocks they need to repair and you will be keeping yourself full. The majority of the other groceries I buy are high volume, low impact fruits and vegetables. These contain very few calories but will take up a lot of space in your stomach.

If you are full and satisfied from your meals, you are less likely to go over your calorie allocation for the day, which eventually will lead to fat loss.

I bought the following:

Vegetables:
• Avocado (nut butters, olive oil or nuts will do!)
• Silverbeet (spinach will do!)
• Kale
• Tomatoes
• Cucumber
• Nectarines
• Melon
• Sweet potato (normal potato will do!)
• Frozen Strawberries (all the berries will do! Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries… and they don’t have to be frozen)

Protein:
• Low-fat Greek yogurt (IT MUST BE GREEK YOGURT.. other types of yogurt don’t contain as much protein)
• Prawns (salmon, pollock, tuna, hoki, barramundi, basa will all do!)
• Ham
• Turkey mince (chicken breast or extra-lean beef will do!)
• Sardines in tomato sauce (tinned tuna will do!)
• Eggs
• Egg Whites

Other:
• Mexican Sauce/Salsa
• Soy Sauce
• Almond Milk (normal milk will do!)

**Apologies for the static in some of the audio. I didn’t bother trying to figure out how to fix it because only 1 person (including myself) will watch this video**
